  • Fiddletown

Doors Open California, a celebration of California’s unique and hidden places. Featuring both on-site and virtual “behind-the-ropes” access to California’s hidden histories and unknown past. The western part of the mining town Fiddletown in Amador County was once occupied by its sizable Chinese community. The Chinese Gambling House, Chinese General Store and the Chew Kee Store Museum, all from 1855-1860, cluster together on Main Street and are evocative testaments to the Chinese presence in the Gold Rush and afterwards.
